Jonny Williams

Jonny is a well travelled singer songwriter and former frontman of Brighton based rowdy welsh rhythm rockers The Sign-On Valley Rangers. Jonny’s songs display a wide array of world influences and reflect the passionate and vital lyrical style of Strummer, Cash and Marley, the people he references as his greatest inspiration. ‘I like to think about every word, every line and sing them in a way that stirs the emotions’. His first solo album, ‘East of the Rising’ showcases his resonant Celtic vocal style and reflects the strong influences of his up bringing in the South Wales valleys.

Jonny’s second album with Long Way Home is entitled ‘Freedom Rose’, it was rehearsed and recorded with a live band in the studio and displays a progression in capturing his ‘Cymrucana’ welsh roots whilst continuing to reflect his alt Americana influences. Jonny says ‘it was really important to me that we could hear the resonance of the valve powered guitar amps and the unmistakable sound of the 1960’s ‘Ludwig’ drum kit.

He is currently playing and touring with his band the Last Rangers featuring songs from both albums in a tight and powerful blues/R&B fashion.
